Description
iRotorBalancer is a technical tool for field balancing of rotating machinery in a single plane and two planes.
The iPad application connects to the Motionics 2-CH DAQ box mounted on an iPad case, collects the vibration amplitude and phase with an accelerometer and a laser tachometer, and calculates the correction balancing weights and their angular positions for the tested machines.
Following the guidance of iRotorBalancer, there is no need to go through complicated and tedious balancing calculations again.
A PDF report option is available after each balancing process. Users can easily generate rotor balancing reports that include test information, machine images, vibration before and after balancing, correction weight information, custom notes, GPS location and signatures. The PDF report can be saved and organized based on plant and machine in a local report manager for future evaluation or exported via AirDrop, Email, wireless printing, or cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.).
- Single-Plane balancing using the Vector Method (Amplitude & Phase Measurements)
- Single-Plane balancing using the Four-Run Method (Amplitude Measurement)
- Two-Plane inbound balancing using the Influence Coefficients Method (Amplitude & Phase Measurements)
- Two-Plane overhung balancing (Amplitude & Phase Measurements)
- Real-time signal waveform and FFT spectrum display
- Automatic selection of 1x peak amplitude and phase
- Polar plot to graphically show location of trial and correction weights
- Convenient calculator to estimate trial weight
- Angular mass distribution calculator to help distribute mass if correction weight location is not accessible
- Weight removal calculator to help determine drill bit size and depth for material removal
- Interactive permissible residual imbalance determination to quickly evaluate balancing quality
- PDF report with test information, balancing data, machine vibration before and after balancing, map location, pictures from library or camera, signatures and notes
- Local report manager to save test reports
- PDF report export via AirDrop, Email, wireless printing and cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc)
iRotorBalancer is compatible with Motionics wired 2-CH iPad rotor balancing kit.

Single-Plane & Two-Plane Balancing
iRotorBalancer uses diferent methods to cover both single-plane and two-plane balancing for diferent machine configurations and guides the user step-by-step to complete rotor balancing.
- Single-Plane balancing using the Vector-Method (Amplitude & Phase Measurements)
- Single-Plane balancing using the Four-Run-Method (Amplitude Measurement)
- Two-Plane inbound balancing using the Influence Coefficients Method (Amplitude & Phase Measurements)
- Two-Plane overhung balancing (Amplitude & Phase Measurements)
Real-time TWF & FFT Viewer
iRotorBalancer continuously processes vibration signals from the accelerometer and optical signals from the tachometer and automatically calculates 1X amplitude and phase for balancing. A time waveform/FFT spectrum viewer updates signals in real-time.
Polar Plot
iRotorBalancer plots vibration readings and weights in a polar plot,
which is a useful visualization tool for reference and verification.
Permissible Residual Imbalance Determination
iRotorBalancer converts an ISO 1940 permissible residual imbalance chart into an interactive calculator to allow users to quickly evaluate balancing quality.
Angular Mass Distribution Calculator
iRotorBalancer includes an angular mass distribution calculator to help distribute mass if the calculated correction weight location is not available or accessible.
Weight Removal Calculator
iRotorBalancer provides a handy weight removal calculator to help determine drill bit size and depth for mass removal. It covers a wide range of commonly used metal materials such as aluminum, bronze, copper, stainless steel, etc.
PDF Test Report & Local Report Manager
After each balancing process, the user can quickly generate a PDF test report in the iRotorBalancer app to include test information, balancing data, machine vibration before and after balancing, map location, pictures from library or camera, signature and notes. Test reports can be saved locally in the plant-machine structured test report manager for future evaluation or exported via AirDrop, Email, wireless printing or cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.).
